Very Sad Today Over The Loss of a Great Man ... Nelson Mandela

With the news of Nelson Mandela's death I am reflecting on two different visits I made to South Africa... the first in 1987 with my friend Larry Warren. At that time I was a Contemporary Christian singer and we performed 21 concerts around the Country in 25 days. It was brutal and exhausting work and interestingly it was there that I made the decision to pursue the full time pastoral ministry.

Letter from The Franklin Table Nov 2013

I hope this letter finds you well.  Currently for me, this is “the best of times and the worst of times.” As I write this, I am counting down the days until my lower back surgery.  Many of you are aware that in July I suffered a ruptured disc, but after physical therapy, two epidurals, and pain management, I have had little to no relief.  On November 21,st

An Important Letter from The Franklin Table

As I write this, my heart is overflowing with joy and great anticipation because of the things that have occurred and the events yet to come. In June, The Franklin Table came under the umbrella of Ken Turner Ministries (http://www.kenturnerministries.org) as a fully operating 501(c)(3). What a blessing this has been and I thank the Lord daily for the privilege to serve in full time ministry as the executive director of TFT.

Pastors Must Lead the Effort for Racial Reconciliation

With current events we find the age-old issue of race relations in the USA once again front and center. It is important to me that we engage in a national dialogue about race because I am a Caucasian parent of an adopted African-American son in his early twenties, who I often remind to keep his hood down and his pants pulled up. He is in this current culture a target.

Memorial Day

In the midst of our fellowship and fun today, stop and remember that Memorial Day is more than just a barbecue.  Today is a patriotic tribute to our fallen, the men and women who gave their lives so we might be free. It's a day we honor the dead, show our military families that America is behind them, and appreciate all they have done for us. I am so proud and thankful to be an American. I never want to forget the price that has been paid for my freedom ... in battle and times of peace, on the frontline or at home, in a manger or on the Cross of Calvary ... their is a great cost.

Urgent Prayer Needed ...

Many of you have heard the recent news that the Internal Revenue Service has been accused of intentionally singling out   conservative groups, resulting in lengthy delays in the processing of their applications for federal tax-exempt status, resulting in over 18 months of delays. Today, I write you on behalf of my own personal ministry and the ministries I support. that await the IRS for approval of their 501C3 status.

Blue Sunday

Today is known as Blue Sunday... A day used to make others aware of the truth concerning the sad reality for so many who suffer from physical abuse... The idea is we care for those who are Black and Blue from abusers... I represent an advocacy group called 'Shepherding The Next Generation' which purposefully challenges all advocates to protect vulnerable people and especially victims of abuse!

One Generation Away

Chris Whitney, Pastor of Nashville Family Church, had a vision that we are One Generation Away from eliminating racism, denominationalism, and poverty in America. From that, OneGenAway was birthed in 2011.

Dear Table Nation,

So much has been happening this year and although I missed writing you last month, I want to thank you for remaining faithful in your prayers and support!
