1955: A Tribute To Rosa Parks

On December 1, 1955 Rosa Parks made a courageous decision that changed the world...today is the 55th anniversary of that historic day. Mrs. Parks did far more than make a firm decision to remain seated; she set in motion an entire movement, garnering her the title, "Mother" of the Civil Rights Movement. Mrs. Parks was a remarkable women whose actions helped to bring a divided nation closer together.

Keep Praying...

I want to encourage you to take advantage of opportunities to be praying for the coming Thanksgiving and Advent seasons which give us quality time to love each other in the Gospel and to see Jesus more beautifully than ever! Continue praying…pursue Christ in the Gospel and keep believing as He leads us by His Spirit.

Prayer

Dear Beloved Community,

In the midst of both crisis and the ho hum of everyday life I consistently ask myself, "Why does it take so long before I’ll pray"? Why do I strategize about what to do or how to act in a disciplined way, when my clear need is met in the Gospel? What I am subtly doing is turning my heart and those around me away from the Gospel and the power of God’s Word. In other words—I want to figure it all out without God’s help.

This coming Lord's day...The Pressing Need for True Wisdom: The Humbling & Centering Power of the Cross -

1 Corinthians 2:1-16... How did Paul pastor the Corinthian believers at a critical season in their story? Before he began responding to a whole series of important questions sent to him as their “father” (1 Cor. 5-16), Paul addressed the disunity and the pride which had crept into the church (1 Cor. 1-4). He did so with bold love and with the “wisdom” of the cross. Only the gospel can settle, center and send us again back into Jesus’ story of reconciliation and restoration.

Keep Praying...

As we approach the coming holidays, I am reminded that trusting Christ and believing the Gospel is sometimes hard especially where our sense of entitlement and the obvious temptation to materialism is concerned.  With the use of social network systems and relational technology our world is becoming increasingly self-absorbed.  Maybe we should ask ourselves why we are so interested in the drama that foolishly gets defined as the most important thing in our lives.  It isn’t that the Lord does not care for the little things.  In fact, He is the creator of ALL things.  In His lovi

A Continued Call to Prayer and Fasting

As we come to the end of our one month of Fasting and Praying that we have been called to. I’m sure the time spent with Jesus asking Him to show us what He wants for His Church, was as productive for you as it has been for me. Unity among believers, and our growth in understanding what it means to be a member of Jesus', church have all been answered to some degree or another.

A Continued Call to Prayer and Fasting

Dear Family of Faith,

Through my time of fasting and praying I believe the Lord is showing us that we are right in the middle of His great story of Gospel restoration.  The journey may continue to be a struggle but we belong to the One who has struggled the most and Jesus is leading us through communicating the Hope we have in Christ.

A Continued Call to Prayer

Dear Family of Faith,

Here is a brief update on what is happening through my weekly call to Prayer.  In the one hour I set aside this week (which by the way turned into about ten hours) I was filled with joy at two realizations.  These both came to me through Pastor Scotty Smith who is preaching on prayer this coming Sunday at C3.

Dear Family of Faith,

A continued Call to Prayer weekly update on C3

Dear Family of Faith,

My blog is shorter this week not because I’m growing lazy but because my typing is impaired from a torn tendon in my left hand. What the injury has helped me realize is my need for unceasing prayer. It is the prayer the Apostle Paul talks about in his letters and reflects the simple moment to moment trust we have been given by faith to believe in the Lord. I am in constant contact with Jesus because He is in constant contact with me!
