A Call to Prayer...continued

This week has been filled with the joy of understanding repentance in a new way.  The Bible Study in Daniel gives us a better picture of what it means to turn to God.  It isn’t just a mental or spiritual turning.  In fact it is best demonstrated by my seeking out the least and the lost.  This is profound.  My usual habit in repenting goes like this:  I am so sorry Lord for thinking or doing such and such, will you forgive me?  Thank you Jesus, Amen.  Then someone knocks on my door looking for a job.  My repentance is or is not real based on my actions towards my out-of-work neighbor.  Does

Heaven of Earth

This past weekend was a glorious example of the grace filled community life here at C3, we estimate 5600 people were on the campus throughout the weekend. There was a marvelous attendance for Friday’s Resurrection Trail as the campus was filled with children of all ages from the surrounding community and Good Friday’s service was a sweet time of reflection and anticipation of the sacrifice and deep love of our Lord. On Sunday, both of the morning services were filled with the wonder and beauty of the cross as Scotty, David and the Worship team lead us in celebration of the resurrection.

My goal is to raise $500 for New Hope Academy and I need your help...

Yes, it’s true…I have started training to walk in the Music City half marathon. It is a fund raiser for my beloved New Hope Academy (http://www.nhafranklin.org/). I know what you are thinking, "he can't get out of his jeep, much less walk thirteen miles" and you have a point. Nevertheless, I am entered and will not quit!

The Non-Hype Hope of Jesus’ Resurrection

Easter Sunday is a great day to give a fresh listening to the story the Bible is actually telling about Jesus, this life, and our longing for something more. The “something more” is what the Bible calls hope—an orientation towards the future with good implications for today.

Lenten Season Call to Prayer

Prayer

C. S. Lewis wrote…”Prayer in the sense of petition, asking for things, is a small part of it; confession and penitence are its threshold, adoration its sanctuary, the presence and vision and enjoyment of God its bread and wine.”

My beloved friends, I am so excited about this upcoming Passion Week.  As we conclude our time of fasting and praying,  it is a time for non-stop celebration as we approach Resurrection Day.  We see the Gospel demonstrated as we read of Jesus’ crucifixion and his coming back from death to life securing our redemption, giving us abundant and eternal life.  Amazing love how can it be?

My prayer time this week has been full of letting go.  As I meditate and keep praying through the Lord’s Prayer, I am convinced He intends His children to simply trust Him.  That sounds so cliché.  Of course we ‘trust in God’ it says so on our money; it is Christianity 101, we trust Christ for our eternal life and know that “believing faith” is the only way to live an abundant life here on earth as well.

As I enter this week’s call to prayer I am coming off a wonderful weekend in Greenville, SC.  where Scotty Smith and I were speaking at  Mitchell Road Presbyterian Church's 40th Missions Conference.  We so enjoyed being with the amazing congregation there fellowshipping with so many friends.  Jesus led our time of repentance in the Gospel and growth in Grace!  Pastor Andy Lewis is such a fine preacher and lover of souls.
