Lenten Season Call to Prayer

Prayer

C. S. Lewis wrote…”Prayer in the sense of petition, asking for things, is a small part of it; confession and penitence are its threshold, adoration its sanctuary, the presence and vision and enjoyment of God its bread and wine.”

I am reminded how prayer is essential to our very existence as the primary object of prayer is to know God. This can look differently for each of us, anytime you find yourself in fellowship with another believer or alone in solitude. For me the two things brought into focus are: a desire to know and walk in truth…led by the Holy Spirit; and how God has richly blessed and equipped us through His Word. I am especially encouraged as we are called to pray for Jesus' plan for the life and ministry of the church. The Servant Leadership Family of Christ Community Church has committed to set aside one hour of designated time each week together in prayer.  Would you join us as well?

Below are the journal entries that I’ve shared with our church leaders and congregants through this Lenten season. I hope you are encouraged to look to Jesus, find out what He is doing and go do it as well. If you are someone who does not pray, consider what options this may bring and let me know what you are feeling.

Deep love,

Scott
