Lenten Season Call to Prayer entry two

What a fantastic time it has been for me to concentrate in prayer on the C3 family and on where Jesus is leading us. I admit it (prayer) has spilled into many more hours per week, not just the one hour I requested of you!  Man what a great habit to get into. I am reminded of my early days as a young Christian when I took advantage of the means of God’s grace in Prayer, Bible study, the Sacraments, authentic Community, etc. I can remember spending frequent long hours lingering in prayer with the Lord enjoying His presence. Recently I’ve found that same joy through our commitment to lift up each other during this Lenten season.

This week I have begun praying through the Lord’s Prayer. In Luke C11 V1-13 Jesus is asked by His disciples, “Lord, teach us to pray”. Why did they request that? Two simple reasons: One, they did not know how to pray. And two, they knew Jesus did. I am as ignorant as the early followers of Jesus and am only now finding out more about the purpose of prayer, the content of prayer and the structure of prayer. For that reason I’m encouraging all of you, and myself, to meditate and pray through the Lord’s prayer on a regular basis until Easter.

Last week as I walked through the campus during services in my boy scout shirt, I was in prayer for all of our people. From the smallest child to the oldest saint, I was asking the Lord to bring us into a knowledge of the Gospel like never before. I woke up Monday morning with the thought that if I were a new Senior Pastor being called to C3 I would be very excited to join you, the leaders, in the journey of growing in the grace of God with all these fine people! The life transformation in this place is exciting and tangible!

Thanks for being faithful to take all your worries and joys to the throne of Grace, always in the name of God’s beloved Son, Jesus.

So, here we go. Our Father…
