Resurrection of the Body

Hello and Happy Easter,

There is a potential slide that could occur in our thinking that begins with a rejection of heaven as an amazing place to be.  We have a difficult time believing that living forever as renewed humans could really be facinatiing.  Maybe we don't see our lives as all that remarkable now.  That is a shame.  We see the brokeness and assume we must do better if there is an afterlife to get to.  We want some miracle but don't see every element and molicule around us as just that.  Our conscience tells us what is right and wrong but we ignore it.

Those who follow Jesus know that His resurrection means our resurrection and that also means the renewing of our bodies not with some celestial duct tape, but a full on remake of what ever was wrong, which in my case is alot.  Jesus' love brings us through this life into a completed life with the most interesting eternal facination and joy.  It is the never boring existance with the one true love we have always dreamt of.  Only Jesus can convince us of that fact.  His free grace and true love displayed in the darkness of the Cross holds back the dark ages and cynicism of the day. Easter reminds us of His over the top desire for us no matter how badly we have lived our lives.

Resurrection of the Body also shows up in Hard Bargain as the houses continue to be built.  We see the New Heavens and New Earth and New City as the perfect rehab.  The roofs don't leak, the toilets all flush, the paint won't crack and the lawns stay cut.  We see the beauty of heaven's reflection showing up everyday.  As relationships grow more honest we find a growing desire to live our lives together, forever.  That sounds like heaven to me.
